Welcome to Echo (“the App” or “we”). Echo is an iOS application for a women’s fitness and lifestyle community. We value your privacy and use this policy to explain how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.
By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the App.
1. Information We Collect
The App is primarily local-first and does not require account registration. We may process the following information:
- Information you provide: display name, bio, post text, workout logs, comments, and direct messages.
- Media you select: photos or videos you choose from your library when creating posts. Library access requires your permission and is usually stored on your device.
- In-app activity: likes, saves, follows, challenge participation, completed workouts, messages, and alert read status, used to personalize your experience on your device.
- Preferences: language and appearance (light, dark, or system).
- Optional remote content: if a content endpoint is configured, the App may fetch JSON data (such as classes and posts) from that URL. Standard network information (e.g., IP address, User-Agent) may be sent depending on the provider.
The App does not proactively collect precise location, contacts, microphone recordings, or HealthKit data unless a future version states otherwise and obtains your consent.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve core features (browse, post, interact, train, and join challenges).
- To save progress, preferences, and drafts on your device for future sessions.
- To comply with applicable laws or respond to lawful requests.
3. Storage and Retention
- Most data is stored locally on your iPhone (UserDefaults, app documents, Keychain).
- Media from your posts is stored in the app sandbox; uninstalling the App removes local data (Keychain items may persist in some cases depending on iOS behavior).
- We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above; you may delete local data by uninstalling the App or clearing app data.
4. Permissions
- Photo Library: used when you select images or videos for posts. You may revoke this permission in Settings at any time; you can still browse content, but cannot add library media without it.
5. Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. Sharing may occur only in these cases:
- When you share: content shared via the system share sheet is handled by the app you choose.
- Content delivery: images and other assets may be hosted on third-party CDNs (e.g., Google user content URLs); those providers may receive standard request logs when assets load.
- Legal requirements: when required by law, court order, or to protect users and public safety.
6. Children
The App is intended primarily for adults. If you are under 18, use the App with parental consent and supervision. If we learn that we have collected a minor’s information without consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
7. Your Rights
Where applicable law allows, you may:
- Edit your display name and bio, and delete posts you created in the App;
- Manage permissions such as Photo Library in system Settings;
- Delete locally stored data by uninstalling the App;
- Contact us below to inquire about, correct, or delete information where applicable.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including iOS sandboxing and Keychain storage. No system is perfectly secure; please keep your device safe.
9. Policy Updates
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date will be shown on this page; material changes may be communicated in the App or by other reasonable means. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
